Promoting the adaptation of housing in order to meet with the needs of the ageing population as a main area within the housing policy.
Proposal n° 1 : establish the adaptation of housing to meet with the needs of the ageing population and of the new ways of life as an integral part of the housing policy, ensuring that it is closely linked to urban planning.
Proposal n° 2 : create a section on the issue of the adaption of housing as a challenge to accompany the ageing process at home, on the website of the Secretary of State for Housing:
- list the fields of professional activities that are directly concerned or are complementary, such as comfort and safety,
- raise awareness of the role of prevention within housing policy
- demonstrate potential sources of employment,
- further develop innovation,
- highlight the importance of flexible adaptation in existing housing,
- emphasis the affordable cost of adapted housing.
Proposal n° 3 : strengthen the housing aspects of the “Growing old comfortably 2” plan:
- include actors from the housing sector,
- invite them to participate on the jury that awards the “growing old comfortably – growing old together” label.
